#2: Shadow Day at FEESI 2024.04.04.

Riga Technical University is actively involved in attracting motivated young people interested in studies and regularly participates in various outreach events. During these events, future professionals are introduced to opportunities for linking their interests with a prospective career path and a potential future university that can lead them into a professional career and, possibly, into science.

As part of Shadow Day, our FEESI structural unit developed a comprehensive programme in which students had the opportunity not only to visit various laboratories and explore modern equipment, but also to gain hands-on experience. Participants were able to try soldering and step into the role of a future electronics specialist under the guidance of Darja Čirjuļina, test their skills in high-frequency RF modelling under the supervision of Tatjana Solovjova, and visit the Electroacoustics Laboratory, where Vitālijs Aišpurs demonstrated practical and engaging applications of sound technologies.

In the SpacePROLAB laboratory, students were introduced to the project “Very Low Frequency Electromagnetic Field as a Short-Term Enhancer of Extracellular Vesicle Production from Mesenchymal Stem Cells in a Bioreactor”, along with several other equally exciting research projects. The programme concluded with an open lecture by Dmitrijs Pikuļins, focusing on how to become a specialist and what career opportunities will be in demand in the future.

Academic staff are also actively involved in such initiatives, supporting pupils in exploring their interests and aspirations and helping them connect these with study opportunities at RTU FEESI.
